Run a keeper

Bond the token, run the robot, earn 0.1% of every run you trigger.

A keeper is the robot that presses “run” on a rule whose condition holds. Anyone can run one and earn 0.1% of every run they trigger. A keeper can do nothing with other people's money: it can only start a rule exactly as its owner signed it, at a price the contract checks.

#What you need

ThingWhy
The project token (after launch)A small bond, shown on the Keepers page. It gives you the right to run rules.
A separate walletA new wallet used only for the robot. Never your main one.
A little ETH on that walletGas. If it runs out, the robot stops and says so in /v1/health.
A computer or server that stays onWith Node.js 24.

#Start a keeper

  1. Make a wallet only for the robot

    Create a fresh wallet. Do not reuse your main one.

  2. Bond

    Open the Keepers page, connect that wallet and press Bond with at least the minimum amount of the token.

  3. Install

    Download the project and install its dependencies with npm install.

  4. Configure

    Create backend/.env.mainnet as shown below. Put the key in yourself and never show it anywhere.

  5. Run

    Start with npm run start:mainnet -w backend. The log prints keeper-only mode.

  6. Check

    After a minute your address appears in the table on the Keepers page. If it says inactive, check the bond and the minimum.

#The configuration file

backend/.env.mainnet
CHAIN_ID=4663
RPC_URL=https://rpc.mainnet.chain.robinhood.com
OPERATOR_PRIVATE_KEY=0x...the key of the robot's wallet...
KEEPER_ONLY=1

With KEEPER_ONLY=1 the program only watches the chain and runs rules. It does not serve the site, burn the token or publish rewards.

#How you earn

Robots compete: the rule is run by the one whose transaction lands first. The advantage goes to whoever has a faster connection to a node and a slightly higher gas price. A losing transaction simply does not go through, and you lose only the gas for it.

#Leaving

On the Keepers page press Leave the network. The robot stops being one immediately, and the bond comes back 7 days later. You can cancel the request during that time.

#What the owner can and cannot do

  • The owner can ban an address. It then stops being a keeper, and the bond is returned after the 7 days.
  • The owner cannot take the bond. The contract has no function for it.

#The numbers

The Keepers page lists every robot: its bond, whether it is active, the number of runs in total and in the last 7 days, and the volume it has handled. The same data is at GET /v1/keepers in the API.
